Picture this: a world where yoga isn't just for the ultra-flexible or the Instagram influencers striking impossible poses on mountain tops. Our goal? To be the antidote to pretentious yoga studios and to create a space where everyone feels welcome, regardless of experience or flexibility.

By equipping individuals with the tools to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives, we aim to create a ripple effect of genuine personal resilience that extends beyond our studio walls.

At Just Plain Yoga our core values include:

Authenticity: We're all about real connections and honest chats. No fluff, just genuine interactions that light up the soul and lift the spirits.

Inclusivity: Come one, come all – whether you're a yoga pro or a total newbie, you're part of our yoga family. We believe in making yoga accessible to everyone. We embrace the kaleidoscope of humanity and celebrate diversity in all its forms, from varying political beliefs to unique perspectives; life would be dreadfully dull if we were all cut from the same yoga mat.

Lifelong Learning: We possess the expertise to support your journey (and not just in mastering a vinyasa flow). With years of experience and a healthy dose of know-how, you can trust us to lead you on your yoga journey with style and flair. We are committed to continuous growth and development, both personally and professionally.

Community Engagement: Cultivate a sense of belonging and connection, fostering meaningful relationships and collaboration among members. Actively contribute to the well-being of our local and global communities, fostering resilience and connection.

Creativity: We encourage innovation and exploration in all aspects of practice and teaching. We embrace a spirit of playfulness and light-heartedness, infusing joy and spontaneity into the yoga journey.

Humor: Laughter is the best medicine, right? We're all about infusing some LOLs and good vibes into our practice. After all, a little giggle here and there makes those warrior poses a whole lot more fun!

Self-Discovery: We aim to cultivate self-awareness and inner wisdom through mindfulness and reflection. Yoga isn't just about touching your toes – it's about finding yourself along the way. We encourage self-reflection, exploration, and a healthy dose of introspection to help you discover your inner yogi (and maybe even your inner comedian).

Our core values include gratitude for the rich history and culture of yoga and for the many teachers who have brought this practice to us. At Just Plain Yoga, we honor this legacy and seek to contribute to a resilient and caring global community. We are committed to ongoing self-study and growth, and we believe that these values are essential for achieving our mission and vision.

Meet Our Founder

Tina Stroh B.A., E-RYT 500

Tina's journey as a yogi began as a free-spirited, curious, and spiritual seeking teenager. Her first teacher was a Kripalu Yoga teacher who offered classes at the YWCA and Satsang out of her home. Tina was inspired by her teacher and went on to spend time at Kripalu Center in MA, where she learned the modern yogic lifestyle through SEVA exchange (selfless labor).

With over 25 years of experience, numerous teacher trainings, extensive travel and a degree in International Studies and Theatre, Tina brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to the mat. Her adventures as a yogi include teaching her first class at a nudist colony and even getting hit on by a Buddhist Monk, but don't let the quirky stories fool you. Tina has backpacked around India and Nepal, fell in love with the culture and people, and is now a student of Sanskrit and Advanced Yogic Studies.

Just Plain Yoga studio arose out of the 1990s when Tina offered free range yoga classes all around Central PA. She opened JPY in 2003 and has met thousands of sensitive, talented, thoughtful, inspiring, and creative people. She feels honored to have been able to offer yoga practices to so many different people and their families.

As an entrepreneur and mother, Tina's insights into the community of yoga in the U.S. and her academic inclination have greatly influenced her authentic approach to the yoga practice. She seeks to demystify the practice while maintaining its powerful philosophy. Tina believes that the modern yoga studio is much more vibrant than a gym. It is a place where people not only build physical and mental health but also find deeply meaningful social connections and spiritual community without leaving their own faith.
